Pringle of Scotland is one of the oldest luxury goods labels in the world. Founded by Mr. Robert Pringle nearly two centuries ago, Pringle started life as a luxury hosiery manufacturer, and over years has grown into one of the UK most loved and iconic brands. Credited with inventing the twinset back in the 1930s, Pringle was responsible for dressing some of the world’s most glamorous women, from Brigitte Bardot to Grace Kelly. While today, Pringle’s woolies can be found hanging in the wardrobes of starlets of the 21st century such as Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson. The Scottish knitwear company continues to manufacture their garments against the beautiful rural backdrop of Hawick, a Scottish border town, where the tapping of needles has reverberated from the hillsides since the company’s beginnings.


1905 – Introduced knitted garments as outerwear and created the word “knitwear” to describe it.

 

1920 – The iconic Pringle Argyle pattern was developed

 

1978 – Richard Gere appeared on front conver of men’s vogue wearing Pringle.
